Republic of Moldova to send new set of updates on implementation of reforms to Brussels

The Republic of Moldova will send a new set of updates on the reforms implemented in our country to the European Commission this June. The announcement was made by the Minister of Foreign Affairs and European Integration, Nicu Popescu, at the Cabinet meeting on Wednesday, 10 May.

"Ten days ago we also sent some information on the implementation of the 9 recommendations of the European Commission, where we found several progress in important areas, the justice sector, de-oligarchization, consolidation of democracy. A few days ago, according to an international ranking, the Republic of Moldova climbed to 28th place in the world in terms of freedom of the press, which shows that we are able to move forward on our European path by consolidating democracy, the return of the airport to state management, the conviction of Șor and these are proof that the Republic of Moldova is capable of accelerating its European path through justice reform and consolidation of democracy", Nicu Popescu said.

Prime Minister Dorin Recean thanked all the officials from all ministries and public administration who were involved in this process and invited them to the European Moldova Assembly on 21 May, which will take place in the Grand National Assembly Square.

On 21 April, in Brussels, Deputy Prime Minister Nicu Popescu handed over to Gert-Jan Koopman, Director General of the EU's Directorate General for Neighbourhood and Enlargement Negotiations, the Republic of Moldova's contributions to the EU Enlargement Report for 2023.

Our country received the status of candidate country for accession to the European Union on 23 June. In order to start EU accession negotiations, the Republic of Moldova has to fulfil several recommendations issued by the European Commission.
