She said that the Republic of Moldova can request external financing, in particular, for railway modernization projects.

"There are many possible projects related to interconnections. First of all, the improvement of the railway, because, for example, one of the priorities of the European Union is also related to sustainability. The north-south railway must be repaired, investments must be made in the Giurgiulesti port, all bridges or connecting lines to Romania are in themselves projects that could be suitable for the European interconnection mechanism. Not only that, but also smaller projects inside a city, which means urban mobility", said the European Commissioner for Transport, Adina Vălean.

We remind you that, two days ago, the Republic of Moldova signed the association agreement with the Mechanism for the interconnection of Europe. By means of this instrument, already this fall, our country could request financing for infrastructure modernization and development projects.

We remind that the Republic of Moldova is the first non-EU country that can apply to the European Interconnection Mechanism.
