The Republic of Moldova joins the EU programs regarding the customs authority and the tax service

The Parliament ratified the decision of the European Union-Republic of Moldova customs subcommittee on the mutual recognition of programs regarding authorized economic operators. Moreover, the deputies ratified the agreement regarding the accession of our country to the EU Programs "Customs" and "FISCALIS".

By ratifying the decision of the EU-Republic of Moldova customs subcommittee, the aim is to strengthen the cooperation relationship between the customs authorities of our country and the European Union, in the context of the implementation of the Moldova-EU Association Agreement.

Thus, each customs authority will offer benefits to the other authority's program members, such as reduced security and safety controls, priority treatment at customs and a common business continuity mechanism in the event of disruptions to trade flows.

Also, through our country's accession to the "Customs" Program, cooperative relations between the Customs Service and the customs authorities of the EU member states will be strengthened. Among the actions provided by the program are the strengthening of administrative and IT capacity, the development and operation of European electronic systems, the implementation of innovations in the field of customs policy.

The first equipment has already been delivered, it will ensure the connection between the national and European fiscal systems, reads a statement of the Parliament. Another accession agreement ratified in the plenary session of the Parliament is for the "FISCALIS" Program. Thus, our country will benefit from support in order to improve the functioning of the internal market, to stimulate competitiveness and fair competition. Also, several actions will be financed regarding the strengthening of IT capacities, through the development and operation of European electronic systems.

The "FISCALIS" program is to be implemented in the period 2023-2027, by the State Fiscal Service. The total value of the program is 267 million euros, of which about 20,000 euros will be the contribution of the Republic of Moldova.
