Russia is prosecuting the ICC judges who issued an arrest warrant in the name of Vladimir Putin
The Russian Investigative Committee will pursue the judges of the International Criminal Court (ICC) who in March issued an arrest warrant in the name of Russian dictator Vladimir Putin, announced the head of Russia’s main criminal investigation institution, Aleksandr Bastrîkin, writes CNN .
“The Investigative Committee will very quickly open a criminal case against the president and three judges who actively influenced the adoption of this decision. They will soon be put on the wanted list,” Bastrîkin said at a press conference in St. Petersburg .
The ICC issued the warrant for Putin’s arrest on March 17 on suspicion of the illegal deportation of Ukrainian children and the illegal transfer of people from the territory of Ukraine to that of Russia.
The court considered that “there are reasonable grounds to believe that Mr. Putin bears individual criminal responsibility” for these crimes, as well as for the fact that “he did not properly exercise control over the civilian and military subordinates who committed these acts.”
The ICC also issued an arrest warrant for Maria Alekseievna Lvova-Belova, Russia’s Children’s Rights Commissioner.
