The Republic of Moldova will purchase radars with the support of the European Union. The statement was made for Radio Moldova by the Minister of Defense, Anatolie Nosatîi.

The official noted that the country's current radar systems are old and long overdue for replacement.

"Space monitoring systems, radars, and they are from the European Union. At the same time, the resources of the national budget will be used for purchases this year", declared the Minister of Defense.

We remind that the European Union offers the Republic of Moldova 20 million euros for the purchase of radars, part of a new anti-aircraft defense system. The money comes from a wider package of support provided through the European Peace Facility initiative. The total amount that Chisinau will benefit from amounts to 40 million euros, a decision approved in April by the Council of Foreign Ministers of the European community.
