A Russian mercenary tried to transit the Republic of Moldova to reach Ukraine. Border Police clarifications
A Russian mercenary tried to transit the Republic of Moldova through the Chisinau International Airport crossing point to reach Ukraine. He was not allowed to enter the country, the Border Police informs.
"In the context of measures taken on the security line, based on risk analysis and information obtained through the exchange of information with the Intelligence and Security Service, as well as with international partners, it was possible to detect a Russian citizen, identified as a mercenary from the international brigade Пятнашка," explains the Border Police.
The source also notes that the foreigner was detected in the flow of passengers at Chisinau International Airport and intended to reach Ukraine, transiting the territory of our country.
The citizen in question was not allowed to cross the state border.
In order to exclude security risks, in the context of the state of emergency in the Republic of Moldova, but also of the war started by Russia against Ukraine, security protocols are applied at all state border crossing points, which implies additional control of the state border crossing for travellers, especially for foreign citizens.
