Energocom has signed up to the European Union's Joint Gas Procurement Platform
Energocom, the central energy supplier of the Republic of Moldova, has recently joined the European Union's joint natural gas purchasing platform, as confirmed to Radio Moldova by Vitalie Condrațchi, spokesman for the Ministry of Energy. According to him, other energy suppliers have the right to register on the platform until May 15.
"Other companies, such as Termoelectrica or CET-Nord, also have the right to register. Yesterday there was a procedure for reconfirmation of the requests for offers from companies that have registered on the platform. Now, by the 15th, 3 gas companies are to submit price offers to the requests of the platform member companies", Vitalie Condrațchi said.
The new system is designed to give up Russian gas and is open to both EU and non-EU companies, including the Republic of Moldova, according to EFE.
The European Commission recently launched the first joint gas procurement platform in the European Union, with a total aggregate demand of 11.6 billion cubic metres.
The aim of the platform is thus to add demand and negotiate together to make gas imports cheaper, with a view to topping up storage for next winter.
So far, 107 companies have signed up to the platform and 77 have applied for gas at the first auction. They are to be supplied between June 2023 and May 2024.
