MEPs decide today on the withdrawal of Eva Kaili's mandate as vice-president of the European Parliament
The leaders of the political groups in the European Parliament unanimously decided that MEP Eva Kaili should be removed from her role as vice-president, after she, along with other people, was targeted by criminal charges in connection with receiving money and gifts from Qatar, reports Reuters.

At the same time, Eva Kaili will no longer be among the 14 vice-presidents of the European Parliament. According to the President of the European Parliament, Roberta Metsola, a two-thirds majority is needed to end her mandate. A decision on this is to be taken today. We remind you that Eva Kaili and three other people were arrested on Sunday and officially charged in Belgium, as part of the investigation into suspected corruption. The case would target Qatar's attempts to demonstrate that it has made progress on the human rights and working conditions of migrants after harsh criticism over the hundreds of deaths of workers who worked to erect stadiums hosting the World Cup.
