Council of Europe Summit // Titus Corlățean: Solutions are to be found for the problems facing the European continent
During the Summit of the Council of Europe, the leaders of the 46 member states will find political, legislative and institutional solutions for the urgent problems facing the European continent, Titus Corlățean, a member of the Romanian Delegation to the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe, told Radio Moldova.
According to him, the Republic of Belarus does not resonate with democratic concepts, as does the Russian Federation, which was expelled from the Council of Europe last year after attacking Ukraine.
The organization of this event was generated by the situation in the region, especially after the Russian Federation started the war in Ukraine.
We remind that the President of the Republic of Moldova, Maia Sandu, will participate in the fourth Summit of the Council of Europe (CoE) of heads of state and government, which will take place on May 16 and 17, in Reykjavik, Iceland. On the sidelines of the Summit, the head of state will have several bilateral meetings with heads of state and government to advance the European agenda of the Republic of Moldova.
In the 73-year history of the Council of Europe, there have been three Summits. The first in 1993, after the fall of the Berlin Wall, when new principles and values for the development of the European continent were established. The previous summit took place in Warsaw in May 2005, when the organization's priorities for the coming years were redefined.
