Energy security in the region, the accession process of the Republic of Moldova to the EU, discussed in Brussels

Energy security in the region, as well as the process of accession of the Republic of Moldova to the European Union, were discussed today in Brussels, by the Minister of Foreign Affairs Nicu Popescu with his counterparts from the 27 member states of the European Union (EU).

During the meeting of the Ministers of Foreign Affairs from the Eastern Partnership, which took place in Brussels, Nicu Popescu met with the high representative for foreign affairs and security policy, Josep Borrell, the Romanian Foreign Minister Bogdan Aurescu, the Slovenian Foreign Minister Tanja Fajon and other counterparts from the EU who sent a strong message to our country to support the accession of the Republic of Moldova to the European Union. Also, the head of Moldovan diplomacy, Nicu Popescu, had a meeting with the European Commissioner for Neighborhood and Enlargement, Olivér Várhelyi. The two officials talked about our EU accession process and strengthening resilience in energy and security. At the same time, Nicu Popescu spoke with the main adviser for foreign policy Simon Mordue and the Senior Foreign Policy Adviser: of the European Council Magdalena Grono about the organization of the Summit of the European Political Community in the Republic of Moldova next year. Nicu Popescu spoke with the general director of the Budget Department, Gert-Jan Koopman, about the financial assistance needed to consolidate the reforms that would help our country meet the criteria of the European Union.
