European path of the Republic of Moldova, discussed by Nicu Popescu with the president of the National Council of Austria
The European path of the Republic of Moldova was one of the topics discussed by the Minister of Foreign Affairs and European Integration, Nicu Popescu, with the President of the National Council of the Republic of Austria, Wolfgang Sobotka, who is on a working visit to Chisinau.
"In the context of the Russian aggression against Ukraine, I referred to the support given by our country to the Ukrainian refugees, but also to the measures taken by the national authorities to counter destabilizing actions against the Republic of Moldova. During the meeting, we also discussed the European path of the Republic of Moldova, the significant progress our country has made in the implementation of the nine recommendations of the European Commission. On this occasion, I thanked for the support that Austria has offered to the Republic of Moldova over the years. We declared that we continue to count on the same firm support, including in the launch of the EU accession negotiations", declared Nicu Popescu.
We remind that it is the first visit of a Parliament Speaker of Austria in the 31 years since the establishment of diplomatic relations between our countries.
