New night air alerts in Kiev and other cities
The anti-aircraft defense had to work again at dawn on Friday in Kiev and other cities in Ukraine, targets in the last days of intense bombardment by the Russian forces, informs Hotnews.ro.
Military officials and the media reported explosions including in Lviv and Rivne, in the west of the country, and in Kherson, in the south. The head of the civil and military administration of the Krivîi Rih (southern) region, Oleksandr Vilkul, called for residents to stay in shelters and reported explosions.
The previous night, Kiev and several other Ukrainian cities were targeted by a wave of Russian missile strikes. The Ukrainian military claimed to have shot down almost all of the projectiles. The civil and military administration in Kiev assessed that the Russian attacks carried out since the beginning of May were "unprecedented in terms of their power, intensity and variety".
Regarding the situation on the front, the leader of the Russian paramilitary group Wagner, Yevgeny Prigozhin assessed as improbable the capture of the city of Bahmut in the east of Ukraine in the coming days.
