Ambassador of Lithuania: This year is crucial for the Republic of Moldova to start EU accession negotiations
This year is a crucial one for the Republic of Moldova to start accession negotiations to the European Union, claims the Lithuanian ambassador to the Republic of Moldova, Tadas Valionis.
The diplomat said, during a program on TVR Moldova, that the Chisinau authorities must make considerable efforts to carry out the necessary reforms, a fact that would start the negotiation process with the community block by the end of 2023, in the context in which, Parliamentary elections will take place in the EU next year. "Now Moldova has the best opportunity to move because it will be very good if you also carry out the reforms and have the decision to start negotiations with this European Commission and European Parliament. If you miss this chance, you could lose more due to structural changes and you may not have a favorable European Parliament. The truth is that even if you do, there is no guarantee that the negotiations will start because there is also the political process in the EU, my country very much supports your accession to the EU", said Tadas Valionis. Also, the Lithuanian ambassador in Chisinau, Tadas Valionis, is of the opinion that the plan regarding the accession of the Republic of Moldova to the EU by 2030, with full rights, is a realistic one. We remind you that at the beginning of June, the Republic of Moldova will update the report on the fulfillment of the nine recommendations of the European Commission, in order to be able to launch the accession negotiations to the European Union.
