Ambassador of Ukraine in Chisinau: "Only a few officials in Ukraine know about the launch of a counter-offensive by the Ukrainian army to recover the territories occupied by the Russians"
Only a few officials in Ukraine know about the launch of a counter-offensive by the Ukrainian army to recover the territories occupied by the Russians, said the ambassador of Ukraine in Chisinau, Marco Shevchenko, during a show on Jurnal TV.
According to the diplomat, this is not announced for security reasons.
"And I would like to know if it started or not, only a few people in Ukraine know for sure, the president, the minister of defense and the leader of the major staff. Before the counter-offensive there must be attacks on the command centers, lines of communication, weapon cases and ammunition, I think, we are in the preparation period of the counter-offensive. In the news we saw attacks on ammunition or fuel stocks", said Marco Şevcenko.
We remind you that at the end of February, the Ukrainian army announced that it would prepare this spring a counteroffensive, which could be decisive, to liberate the territories occupied by the Russians.
Later, the head of the Cabinet of Ministers in Kiev, Denis Shmihal mentioned that the authorities could postpone their counter-offensive until the summer, to be sure that the operation is fully prepared.
At the same time, during the same show, Marco Shevchenko stated that the main cause of the war started by the Russian Federation against Ukraine is actually the restoration of the Soviet Union, under a new name, and that Ukraine's possible accession to NATO was only a pretext for Russia to start the war.
The Ukrainian diplomat expressed hope that the war will end soon, but stressed that the Ukrainians will not give in to the Russians.
