The European City was launched in Leova
A project to improve the energy efficiency of the Theoretical Lyceum "Constantin Spătaru" was presented as part of the launch of the European City in Leova. With the support of the European Union, the Lyceum with over 650 students and teachers has turned into one of the most modern educational institutions in the country, being among the few fully provided with alternative energy – the boiler room runs on biomass, and traditional light bulbs have been replaced with the Led type. Now the classrooms, but also the hallways, are brighter, and a ventilation system was installed so that the double-glazed windows do not lose their energy efficiency.

"The European Union means beautiful schools, it means bridges, it means everything we see as beautiful, roads, repairs, that's the European Union. The European Union also means something that is hard to feel, but it is very important, it means peace. It means respect for humans, it means the freedom to express your opinion, to live freely, to realize yourself. This is what we want, not only to have beautiful roads and schools, but to be able to achieve our goals", declared Igor Grosu.
The Ambassador of the European Union to the Republic of Moldova, Jānis Mažeiks, stated that the European Union contributed 40 million euros to support citizens' access to local public services.
"More than 600 students and teachers will have a better learning environment thanks to our joint efforts. It is a significant achievement, because investing in youth means investing in a better future for the Republic of Moldova. The renovation has made your school more environmentally friendly, greenhouse gas emissions will be reduced by about 400 tons, that is, a reduction of more than 60 percent," said Jānis Mažeiks.
We remind that the European City will be inaugurated today in Leova, starting at 15:30. The Ambassador of the European Union to the Republic of Moldova, Jānis Mažeiks, the Parliament Speaker Igor Grosu, the mayor of Leova, Alexandru Bujorean will come up with congratulatory messages.
Included in the program are interactive activities, contests, thematic presentations, games for children and young people, an exhibition of Romanian crafts, as well as tastings of traditional dishes. The event will end with a concert performed by the band Zdob and Zdub, the Advahov Brothers and the Doina Covurluiului ensemble from Galati.
