OPCOM to open a subsidiary in the Republic of Moldova
The Romanian electricity market operator OPCOM is to open a branch in the Republic of Moldova to trade electricity. Energy Minister Victor Parlicov discussed this during his visit to Bucharest, the Energy Ministry reports.
At the meeting with the Romanian operator's management, the energy minister discussed the natural gas supply routes used by countries in the region and the separation of the gas transmission system in Moldova.
During the meeting with representatives of Transelectrica, Victor Parlicov discussed the acceleration of projects for the development and consolidation of the energy transmission infrastructure, which would ensure the increase of cross-border exchange capacity between Romania and the Republic of Moldova.
The discussions took place in the context of the approval by the Romanian Government of the Memorandum of Understanding between the Government of Romania and the Government of the Republic of Moldova on the implementation of projects necessary for the interconnection of the natural gas and electricity networks of Romania and the Republic of Moldova.
