Two railway sectors in the Republic of Moldova, which are a connection point with Romania, will be rehabilitated by 2025. The announcement was made by the Minister of Infrastructure and Regional Development (MIDR), Lilia Dabija, during a broadcast on TVR Moldova. The authorities are currently in talks to obtain new aid from the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development and the European Commission to modernise Moldova's railway infrastructure.
"We are in the final procedure of negotiating another credit agreement and part of a grant for the rehabilitation of another sector that is part of the solidarity line linking us to Ukraine. It runs from Valcineț to Chisinau, Căinari, Ungheni. It is another 107 km section. In this regard, we will soon sign a 23 million loan with the EBRD and a 20 million grant from the European Commission. With the EIB we will also have a loan of 10 million and another grant of 10 million", said Lilia Dabija.
At the same time, Minister of Infrastructure and Regional Development Lilia Dabija said that from 2021 our country has signed a credit agreement with the EBRD and the EIB on improving the railway sector from Basarabeasca to Giurgiulesti. The works are to be completed by 2025.
