During his last visit to Chisinau, this March, Charles Michel mentioned that European integration is the only way that ensures the survival of Moldova as a free and prosperous country, reaffirming his commitment to pro-actively support Moldova's candidacy for joining the European Union.

"We have mobilized over one billion euros in the last year to support the Republic of Moldova, its resilience and stability. This means that we support not only with words, but also with actions and concrete support. (...) The Republic of Moldova can count on the full support of the European Union during this very difficult period and on its way to the European family", declared the President of the European Council, Charles Michel.

Official delegations from Azerbaijan, Montenegro and Kosovo are already in Chisinau. Earlier, the President of the European Commission, Ursula von der Leyen, together with the High Representative of the European Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy/Vice-President of the European Commission, Josep Borrell, arrived in the Republic of Moldova to participate in the EPC Summit.

During the first EPC Summit, from October 6-7, 2022, in Prague, it was the President of the European Council who came up with the proposal to hold the second edition of the EPC Summit in the Republic of Moldova. This initiative shows that Moldova is seen as a reliable partner that actively contributes to the consolidation of unity and security on the European continent. Recently, the members of the European Parliament adopted European Parliament Resolution no. 223/2595 of April 19, 2023, by which they requested the Commission and the European Council to start negotiations with the Republic of Moldova regarding EU accession by the end of this year, following the fulfillment of the nine conditionalities.

On the occasion of the organization of the 2023 EPC Summit, the national authorities have instituted protection and security measures at the international level, for the smooth running of the event, where officials of the European states and high representatives of the EU will be present.
