The President of the European Parliament noted that European countries can face the risks caused by the invasion of the Russian Federation in Ukraine, only by passing the "resilience test".

"We have common challenges of security, energy and connectivity, which we can only address through joint actions. The risks of Russia's illegal invasion of Ukraine are things that we can only face through resilience, and I hope we will do so now. I am very happy to see many leaders of the countries of the Western Balkans, because we want them to advocate for a faster, deeper European integration of these countries. I was here last week, in the Republic of Moldova, in front of more than 80 thousand citizens of the Republic of Moldova who were singing and declaring strongly that the place of the Republic of Moldova is in Europe and I am here, on behalf of the European Parliament to advocate for common actions and solutions", said Roberta Metsola.

Asked about the European progress of the Republic of Moldova, the president of the European Parliament mentioned that "they are impressed by the speed with which the Republic of Moldova advances in the activity it carries out".

"First of all, the fact that we are meeting here in the Republic of Moldova is not only a demonstration of our support, but also of our commitment resulting from the moment when the Republic of Moldova became a candidate state and because the accession negotiations are to be launched this very year. We are impressed by the speed with which the Republic of Moldova responded to all the recommendations and how it advances in the activity it carries out and the tasks imposed by the European Commission", said Roberta Metsola.
