Czech Republic reiterates its constant support for Moldova? Will open a military attaché office in our country

The Republic of Moldova has benefited from Czech support in the process of obtaining the status of EU candidate country, Prime Minister Dorin Recean said at a joint press conference with his Czech counterpart Petr Fiala. For his part, the Prague official said that his country would continue to provide support to Moldova in several areas, including defence and security. Thus, in August, the office of a Czech military attaché will be inaugurated in the Republic of Moldova.

Petr Fiala welcomed the good organisation of the European Political Community Summit, to which the Czech Republic also contributed, and said that this event was a strong sign for the Republic of Moldova and Russia.

"It was also a signal to Russia. We all know the hybrid threats to which the Republic of Moldova is exposed. We understand that attempts have been made to undermine your sovereignty, and we give you our full support in dealing with the threats of Russian aggression in Ukraine. We have supported the sanctions regime that has been imposed on individuals with direct links to Russia. We have also supported the inauguration of the EU Partnership Mission in the Republic of Moldova".

In this context, the Czech Prime Minister announced that his country will open a new office for the Czech military attaché in Moldova in order to deepen bilateral defence cooperation.

"We have intense bilateral relations in the field of defence and security economy. Czech companies are well equipped to help the Republic of Moldova modernise its defence forces. We know that a new radar for the surveillance of the airspace of the Republic of Moldova is to be installed", Petr Fiala stressed.

Moreover, the official said that the Czech Republic will continue to support Moldova's path to EU membership, noting that it will share all Czech experience in this regard.

At the press conference, Prime Minister Dorin Recean thanked the Czech Republic for its support and said that the two countries will deepen their bilateral relations.

"The Czech Republic has always stood by the Republic of Moldova over the past years. The Republic of Moldova has benefited from 50 projects worth €14 million. This is where these new opportunities arise, in particular, for increasing trade between the Republic of Moldova and the Czech Republic, on different dimensions, especially energy, IT, infrastructure, business, but also a very important area such as "smart cities" (...). European integration is an internal policy, a policy of adjusting institutions, legislation, so that all citizens of the Republic of Moldova feel at home as in Europe", said Dorin Recean.
