The state of emergency, extended for 60 days starting Sunday

The state of emergency has been extended in the Republic of Moldova for a period of 60 days starting with Sunday, June 4. Prime Minister Dorin Recean recently mentioned, in the plenary of the Legislative, that the need to extend the state of emergency is determined by the unpredictable developments of the war started by Russia against Ukraine.

Moreover, Dorin Recean mentioned that, in June, the Government will finalize an initiative to change the legislative framework, in order to propose the introduction of the emergency ordinance, following the Romanian model.

During the state of emergency, the Commission for Emergency Situations of the Republic of Moldova will issue binding and enforceable provisions for the heads of central and local public administration authorities, economic agents, public institutions, as well as for the citizens of the Republic of Moldova and other persons on the territory the country.

The state of emergency in the Republic of Moldova was established on February 24, 2022, with the outbreak of the war in Ukraine. Later, it was extended several times.
