The neutrality status of the Republic of Moldova provoked discussions in the Parliament
During the Parliament session, the Bloc of Communists and Socialists urged the relevant authorities to take measures to strengthen this status. On the other hand, the deputies of the parliamentary majority say that the main measure in this regard is the withdrawal of Russian military troops from the territory of the country, which threaten neutrality and national security.

The Deputy of the Bloc of Communists and Socialists, Vasile Bolea requested at the beginning of the plenary session measures to strengthen the neutrality status of the Republic of Moldova.
"Internationally, December 12, according to the UN Resolution, is celebrated as the International Day of Neutrality. On this occasion, we welcome this day and urge the state bodies of the Republic of Moldova to undertake all measures regarding the strengthening of the neutrality status of the Republic of Moldova and its recognition at the international level", said Vasile Bolea.
In reply, the deputy of the Action and Solidarity Party, Mihail Druță urged the parliamentary opposition to request the Russian Federation to withdraw its troops from the territory of the Republic of Moldova. According to him, their illegal presence in the Transnistrian region now represents the greatest danger to neutrality and national security.
"If we sincerely want to defend the status of neutrality, dear fellow socialists and communists, I urge you to make a statement at the beginning in which you demand before the State Duma, the President of Russia and all competent authorities of the Russian Federation to withdraw from the territory of the Republic of Moldova immediately, totally and unconditionally its occupying troops", said Mihail Druță.
Radio Moldova recalls that previously, the secretary of the Supreme Security Council, Dorin Recean stated that citizens must be helped to understand what the neutrality status of our country actually entails, as well as what collective defence means. Thus, efforts must be made for institutions to be resilient, as well as for society to be able to absorb shocks.
It should be noted that since its independence, the Republic of Moldova has had the status of neutrality in its Constitution and does not allow the deployment of military troops.
