EU Ambassador: The launch of accession negotiations depends on the assessment of the European Commission
The Republic of Moldova managed to organize the Summit of the European Political Community admirably, declared the ambassador of the European Union in Chisinau, Janis Mazeiks, during the show "La 360 de grade" on Radio Moldova. Regarding the launch of accession negotiations, the European official stated that everything will depend on the evaluation of the European Commission in October.
"You have managed to organize everything in an admirable way, all the logistical challenges that a small country might face to receive planes in a not very big airport. I think you showed your hospitality very well. (...) I won't be able to give you the exact date, nor can I say what the chances are, because all these things depend on several elements. The first - we will have to see the evaluation of the European Commission with reference to how well the Republic of Moldova advanced with reference to the 9 steps recommended by the European Commission last June, when the Republic of Moldova was granted the status of a candidate country and how it worked on legislation during this year", said the EU ambassador.
Ambassador Janis Mazeiks also mentioned that this year, since it obtained the status of a candidate country for accession to the European Union, the Republic of Moldova has advanced in all dimensions.
