Sweden donates €12 million annually to implement reforms in Moldova, statement
The annual contribution of the Kingdom of Sweden to the implementation of reforms in the Republic of Moldova and infrastructure projects amounts to more than 12 million euros, the Moldovan ambassador in Stockholm, Liliana Gutan, told Radio Moldova.
According to her, there are currently 30 projects underway with Swedish funding.
"Sweden is one of Moldova's top donors with an annual contribution of more than €12 million to promote reforms, including for the Transnistrian region and Gagauzia. We have around projects ongoing in the Republic of Moldova covering the following sectors: enhanced economic integration with the EU, development of market economy, strengthening democracy, human rights and rule of law development and environment, climate change mitigation", said Liliana Gutan.
For her part, the Ambassador of the Kingdom of Sweden in Chisinau, Katarina Fried, said that her country will support the Republic of Moldova to bring it closer to the European Union.
"We have projects all over Moldova, it is about human rights, democracy, rule of law, rule of law, gender equality, inclusive and peaceful society, environmental and climate issues and inclusive environmental development. We also provide assistance in areas related to reforms in the Republic of Moldova through the collaboration we have between Sweden and public institutions in the Republic of Moldova, such as improving the tax system, forest service management, community policing, etc.", concluded Katarina Fried.
Today is the National Day of the Kingdom of Sweden. The Nordic country celebrates, at the same time, Flag Day, Independence Day, on the occasion of the founding of the Kingdom of Sweden, the coronation of the first king, Gustav Vasa, on 6 June 1523 and the adoption of the Constitution on 6 June 1809.
