Igor Grosu, meeting with Italian officials: The close ties between our countries are due, including the Moldovan community

Parliament Speaker Igor Grosu met with Senate President Ignazio la Russa and Lorenzo Fontana, President of the Chamber of Deputies of the Italian Parliament. The talks focused on the priorities of Moldovan citizens living in Italy, as well as on the parliamentary agenda of the Republic of Moldova, according to a press release issued by the legislature.

"The close ties that exist between our countries are also due to the community of Moldovan citizens living in Italy," Igor Grosu stressed.

The officials had a more detailed exchange of views on the priorities on the agenda of the legislature in Chisinau, including the improvement of parliamentary diplomacy in promoting more actively the interests of Moldovan citizens both at home and abroad.

"I was pleased with the interest and openness of the Italian side to advance our bilateral relations in several areas of common interest, such as justice, economic recovery, European agenda, cultural projects", concluded the head of the legislature.

Igor Grosu also expressed his gratitude for the full support of the authorities in their efforts to modernise our country, and the Italian officials gave assurances that the Republic of Moldova can count on Italy's support in the realisation of its European agenda.

The President of the Parliament, Igor Grosu, is on an official visit to Italy from 4 to 7 June.
