Accession of the Republic of Moldova to the European Union, one of the objectives of the Polish Presidency of the EU Council
One of the objectives of the Polish Presidency of the Council of the European Union, which it will hold in 2025, will be the accession of Ukraine and the Republic of Moldova to the EU, Polish President Andrzej Duda said in a televised speech. Poland will also call for the expansion of the European Union to include the Western Balkans, as well as strengthening energy security and deepening transatlantic cooperation.
The Warsaw leader announced that he would submit to parliament a draft law laying down the rules of cooperation for the country's authorities in the run-up to Poland's presidency of the Council of the European Union in the first half of 2025.
"We have presented three objectives of our presidency. The first is to deepen transatlantic cooperation and strengthen relations between the European Union and the United States. The second objective is the further enlargement of the Community to include Ukraine, Moldova and the Western Balkans, and in the future other countries aspiring to join. The third objective will be to strengthen Europe's energy security. These are ambitious tasks. To implement them, close cooperation between the powers of state is needed," said Andrzej Duda.
Poland will hold the EU presidency in the first half of 2025, together with Denmark and Cyprus.
