Farmers' protest continues in several districts of the Republic of Moldova: Some routes will be blocked

The farmers' protest continues today in several districts of the country. Thus, farmers will go out with their tractors on several national routes. The Farmers' Force Association announces in a press release that, between 11:00 and 13:00, the national routes will be blocked near Sculeni and Leușeni customs, as well as the Hâncești-Leova, Orhei - Rezina and Bălți - Orhei roads.

Yesterday, in several regions of the country, about a thousand farmers with more than 550 tractors protested. Traffic was blocked on several national roads. Farmers asked the Government to allocate compensation for production costs of at least 3 thousand lei per hectare, for small and medium farmers, but also to temporarily ban the export of grain from Ukraine.

In reaction, the Government's communications adviser, Daniel Vodă, stated that the central authorities have undertaken several measures to strengthen the agricultural sector, such as increasing the subsidies granted to farmers and increasing the number of employees within the Agency for Intervention and Payments for Agriculture.

According to him, the Executive claims that it has additionally allocated over 533 million lei, in support of farmers affected by the regional crisis. At the same time, the spokesperson mentioned that the Government respects the citizens' right to protest.
