Government of Romania will adopt a memorandum on salary increases for teachers
The Government of Romania adopts, in today's meeting, the memorandum regarding salary increases for the teachers through the new salary law, by which it wants to stop the teachers' strike.
"The memorandum will be adopted in the Executive meeting and will be published in the Official Gazette of Romania, in order to strengthen the government's guarantees regarding the prioritization of Education in the future salary scale and the use as a reference system of the average gross salary in the economy for the salary of the debutante/university assistant. The government guarantees included in the Memorandum are also assumed at the level of the governing coalition, whose leaders have appropriated them in a political commitment", reads a press release from the Government of Romania.
The unions do not give up the protest, and for Friday they have announced a new rally in Bucharest, in which they expect about 20,000 people to participate.
We remind that Prime Minister Nicolae-Ionel Ciucă asked the Ministry of Education and the Ministry of Labor and Social Solidarity to promote at the Government level a Memorandum regarding the salary increases granted to teachers through the new Salary Law.
