NBS: Exports of goods from the Republic of Moldova increased
Exports of goods from the Republic of Moldova increased by almost 50 percent in the first ten months of the current year, compared to the same period last year, and imports increased by over 30 percent, the National Bureau of Statistics (NBS) announces. Most products were exported to Romania, Ukraine and Italy.
In the months of January-October 2022, exports of goods totaled more than $3.6 billion, or about 48 percent more than in the same period last year. The value of products destined for European Union countries in the first ten months of the current year is about $2.1 billion or 60 percent of the total.
The share of exports destined for the countries of the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS) was almost 23%, which is less than in Romania, which has a share of 28%. Among other important importers of Moldovan goods are Italy, Turkey, Germany. Imports of goods amounted to almost $7.5 billion, a level higher than that achieved in the similar period of 2021, by more than 30 percent.
The trade balance, i.e. the difference between the value of exports and imports, registered a negative value of $3.85 billion, an increase of 18%.
