Energocom will procure natural gas from Greece and Romania at favorable prices, for consumption this summer
SA Energocom will procure gas from two companies in Romania and Greece, as a result of the direct negotiation procedure, for consumption this summer at fairly good prices, Energocom director Victor Bânzari announced today. Also, in the fall, natural gas prices could be re-examined and reduced again.
Energocom concluded natural gas procurement contracts with two new companies. It is a company from Greece DEPA and a company from Romania, whose name cannot be made public, according to the contractual provisions signed, announced today the director of Energocom, Victor Bânzari, at a press conference. Victor Bânzari also said that the offer from these companies is advantageous.
The purchase was made on the basis of the reference price plus the costs of transporting the gas to the border. Price and quantity information, likewise, is a contractual secret.
"Energocom has completed the gas procurement tender for this summer's consumption. On Friday morning, winter purchases were allowed. Some quantities will be stored in Ukraine. And if we don't succeed, we will organize more tenders until we complete all the consumption needs, for the cold season", declared Victor Bânzari. Currently, the Republic of Moldova has about 100 million cubic meters of gas stored in the warehouses in Ukraine and Romania, and the stock is to be completed with another 23 million cubic meters of gas. In Ukraine, the gas storage price for one megawatt/hour is 1.59 euros. Currently, citizens mostly consume gas imported from European countries.
The head of Energocom emphasized that the Republic of Moldova is no longer dependent on a single supplier - Gazprom - and works with 15 companies, which could supply our country with any necessary quantity. Moreover, natural gas prices could be re-examined and reduced by ANRE this fall.
