The Constitutional Court continues the examination of the Government's referral regarding the constitutionality of the "Sor" Party
The Constitutional Court continues today the examination of the notification by which the Government requested the verification of the constitutionality of the "Sor" Political Party. The meeting started at 10:00.
We remind that, at the beginning of yesterday's session, the Government's lawyers asked the judges to examine additional evidence regarding the illegal financing of the "Sor" Party, including from external sources, noting that the party's leaders "violated the standards of the rule of law, and by financing the formation from external forces endangered the security and sovereignty of the Republic of Moldova".
In reply, the lawyer of the "Sor" formation, Aureliu Colenco, said that the approach presented by the Government's defenders cannot be examined because this stage in the process was passed.
After more than three hours of deliberations, the High Court admitted the approach of the Government's lawyers. The examination of the referral, which began on May 10, was interrupted on May 17 to give the parties time to prepare their pleadings before the Constitutional Court.
