The Republic of Moldova will receive more than 100 million euros from the International Bank for Reconstruction and Development

The Republic of Moldova will borrow €92 million and receive a grant totalling $25 million, according to the financing agreement between our country and the International Bank for Reconstruction and Development, ratified by the government on Wednesday.

The financial assistance is part of the programme "Moldova, emergency response, resilience and competitiveness". The programme includes eight core sub-actions, and most of them have been implemented, allowing the loan to be contracted, stressed Finance Minister Veronica Sirețeanu.

"The aim of this programme is to support the implementation of the reforms established by the Government, mitigate the negative effects of the war in Ukraine and ensure the resilience and competitiveness of the economy. Mostly eight sub-actions related to the implementation of measures related to the status of refugees in society, management in emergency situations, including due to the flow of refugees, strengthening the anti-poverty programme, increasing energy efficiency," said Veronica Sirețeanu.

Veronica Sirețeanu noted that both the grant and the loan are to be disbursed in a single tranche.
