Britain sends 2,000 troops to Romania for "specific military tasks"
The UK will send 2,000 military personnel to Romania for specific tasks, the British and Northern Ireland ambassador to Bucharest, Andrew Noble, said on Wednesday at the opening of a security and defence exhibition, reports caleaeuropeana.ro.
As stated by the British diplomat, the Romanian-British strategic defence partnership involves, in addition to military exercises and joint training, ensuring that in the future "we have the equipment we need to defend our alliance and our states".
According to Andrew Noble, by the end of this year more than 2,000 Brits will be in Romania for "specific military tasks" to work with the Romanian side on how to "deter and win in the face of the challenges we face today and in the future".
Romania and the UK celebrate this month the 20th anniversary of the launch of the bilateral Strategic Partnership.
This year, the two countries' foreign ministers, Bogdan Aurescu and James Cleverly, signed in London the Joint Declaration updating the Strategic Partnership and launched the Romanian-British bilateral forum.
