Official: Agriculture Minister to go to Brussels to ask for support for Moldovan farmers
Minister of Agriculture and Food Industry Vladimir Bolea will visit Brussels on 20 June to ask for financial support from the European Union for Moldovan farmers affected by the price collapse and the consequences of the war. In this context, Prime Minister Dorin Recean said that by the end of this week all calculations will be finalised and expressed his hope that external partners will help Moldova again.
"Deputy Prime Minister Bolea, together with international organisations such as FAO, are making these calculations. These calculations are to be finalised by the end of the week, after which they will be consulted with all categories of farmers and agriculturists. I am sure, as always, our partners in the European Union, our friends are helping us. And in this case, sooner or later help will be forthcoming," said the Prime Minister.
Dorin Recean recalled that the Agricultural Subsidy Fund has been increased by more than 100 million lei. At the same time, the Executive has made over 300 million lei available to farmers in the form of VAT recovery, and by the end of July, about 700 million lei from subsidy projects carried out in 2022 will be disbursed.
