LGBT community organises the Moldova Pride march in Chisinau. Several priests and parishioners protest
The LGBT community in Moldova is organising the Moldova Pride march on Sunday. The activity is in its 22nd edition. Dozens of people are expected to participate in the event which is to start at the intersection of Bucharest and Ismail streets. At the same time, dozens of priests and parishioners have gathered in front of the monument to Stephen the Great in the capital to demonstrate against homosexual propaganda.
While participants in the demonstration gathered at the intersection of Bucharest and Ismail streets, dozens of priests and parishioners were seen near the "Stefan cel Mare" Public Garden in Chisinau, TV8 reports. They are against the Moldova Pride march.
Several events have taken place over the past few days and this is the only week in the year when members of LGBT communities and their supporters take to the streets to express solidarity with each other and demand their rights.
Every year, the Moldova Pride Festival takes place in parallel with a social campaign to raise awareness of the most pressing and topical challenges facing the community. The theme of this year's campaign is civil partnership/same-sex marriage.
