Janis Mazeiks welcomes the creation of an Anti-Corruption Court
Dissensions between the Anticorruption Prosecutor's Office and the CNA are not good for the fight against corruption, as people in conflict with the law profit from the differences between the institutions, said the head of the Delegation of the European Union in the Republic of Moldova, Janis Mazeiks, on a PROTV show.
Janis Mazeiks welcomes the idea of creating an Anti-Corruption Court, stressing that the most important thing is how this institution will work.
"For me the situation is quite sad. The president said very important things, such as that these things must not prevent us from moving forward," Janis Mazeiks said.
We remind you that recently, the Presidency came up with the project to create a new institution, the Anticorruption Court. It aims to fight corruption more effectively, but also to speed up the process of examining complex corruption files. The court will have up to 15 judges, selected by competition by the SCM based on merit and experience, and appointed (including by transfer) by the president of the Republic of Moldova.
