Veronica Dragalin says she is ready to take over the leadership of a new institution, if PA and CNA are merged
The head of the Anticorruption Prosecutor's Office, Veronica Dragalin, said in a TVR Moldova show that she is ready to take over the management of a new institution, in case the Anticorruption Prosecutor's Office (PA) and the National Anticorruption Center (CNA) ware merged.
According to her, if a new institution is to be created, a competition should also be launched for the post of head.
"I think that if these two institutions were liquidated and a new one was created, we should have a contest for the head of this institution. I would apply for such a position. So I don't think I would automatically be the person to run such an institution. I think that there should be a new contest, to find the right person to lead such an institution, but I think that I have the professional experience, I have the right character to be a candidate", declared Veronica Dragalin.
The Anticorruption Prosecutor's Office and the National Anticorruption Center could be merged, and the National Anticorruption Directorate - a structure similar to the Romanian DNA would be established. The Parliament Speaker Igor Grosu and the president of the country, Maia Sandu, spoke about this previously. In this new institution, only prosecutors and investigative officers who have passed the external and extraordinary assessment of integrity could activate.
