NATO announces that it is ready to intervene to maintain peace in Kosovo
NATO announces that it is ready to intervene to maintain peace in Kosovo in the situation where tensions in the region will increase, announced the commander of the NATO forces in Pristina, Angelo Michele Ristuccia, informs Digi24.

He also stated that the situation is tense, despite the appearance of calm in recent days. At the same time, there would be no military solution at this time, because the only way to solve this situation lies in a political decision, the result of the will of both sides to normalize their relations.
NATO has decided to increase its forces by up to 700 troops and to activate the alert status for another battalion, bringing the number of troops stationed in the region to more than 4,500.
Since declaring independence in 2008, northern Kosovo, inhabited mostly by ethnic Serbs, has faced numerous tensions. The latest violence broke out in May, following local elections, which were won by ethnic Albanian mayors. Voter turnout was only 3.5%, after Serbs boycotted the vote.
We remind that about 50,000 Serbs living in the northern part refuse to be ruled by Pristina and consider Belgrade to be their rightful capital.
