Maia Sandu meets Nicolae Ciucă and Marcel Ciolacu: "We focused on the accession of the Republic of Moldova to the EU"

The President of the Republic of Moldova, Maia Sandu, had a meeting in the morning with the President of the Romanian Senate, Nicolae Ciucă, and the Prime Minister from Bucharest, Marcel Ciolacu, who are visiting the Republic of Moldova. The discussions focused on the accession of the Republic of Moldova to the European Union, the head of state wrote on her Twitter account.

"I was happy to greet Prime Minister Marcel Ciolacu and Senate President Nicolae Ciucă in Chisinau and congratulate them on their new positions. In today's discussions, we focused on Moldova's accession to the EU, the promotion of joint projects and the consolidation of economic integration", wrote Maia Sandu on Twitter.

Romanian Prime Minister Marcel Ciolacu declared in Chisinau that the challenges and crises faced by the citizens of both countries must be addressed jointly, and a special emphasis must be placed on the economic area.

"The place of the Republic of Moldova is in the European Union!", declared the Prime Minister of Romania at the meeting with Maia Sandu. "Today, in Chisinau, at the meeting with the President of the Republic of Moldova, Maia Sandu, I reaffirmed Romania's support for this common goal. I am confident that the accession negotiations of the Republic of Moldova to the European Union will begin in the shortest possible time! The Republic of Moldova can count on Romania!", wrote Ciolacu on his Facebook page.

Romania is willing to share its legislative experience in the European integration process, the president of the Romanian Senate, Nicolae Ciucă, said in Chisinau, in a briefing held alongside the Parliament Speaker from Chisinau Igor Grosu. The Romanian official said that he came to the Republic of Moldova to convey a message of continuity and coherence of the support offered by Romania during its accession to the European Union.

Nicolae Ciucă and Marcel Ciolacu recently took up their positions in the Romanian Senate and in the Government respectively, and they made their first visit to the Republic of Moldova.
