Latvia closes its border to Russians
Latvia announces on Saturday a strengthening of border security, just like its neighbor Estonia, reports AFP.

"Border security has been strengthened" against the Wagner rebellion in Russia, Latvian President-elect Edgars Rinkevics announced in a Twitter post.
He stated that he no longer allows Russians to enter Latvian territory and that issuing visas to them has been suspended. Latvia stopped in 2022 issuing new visas to Russian citizens, but has made exceptions, so far, and granted humanitarian visas. Riga does not specify the validity of visas already issued for entry into Latvia.
Estonian Prime Minister Kaja Kallas announced on Saturday, on Twitter, a strengthening of the border with Russia and asked Estonians not to go to the border area.
"I urge our people not to go to Russia", she emphasized.
At the same time, Lithuania and Poland agreed to pay special attention to their eastern borders, due to developments in Russia. The Lithuanian President, Gitanas Nauseda announced that he had a conversation with the Polish Prime Minister, Mateusz Morawiecki in this regard.
