Klaus Iohannis participates in a NATO meeting in a limited format. Defense capacity of the Republic of Moldova, on the agenda of discussions
The President of Romania, Klaus Iohannis, will participate on June 27 in a meeting in a limited format, dedicated to the preparation of the NATO Summit in Vilnius. At the event that will take place in The Hague, in the Kingdom of the Netherlands, the leader from Bucharest will highlight the relevance of the development of Allied assistance for strengthening the defense capabilities and resilience of the Republic of Moldova.
The presidents of Lithuania and Poland, the prime ministers of Albania, Belgium and Norway, as well as the Secretary General of NATO, also participate in the meeting. Klaus Iohannis will talk with the leaders present at the meeting about the main topics on the Summit's agenda.
Special attention will be paid to the Alliance's sustained commitment to Ukraine, both from the perspective of practical support for strengthening defense capabilities and its resilience, and strengthening the substantive components of the NATO-Ukraine political relationship.
At the same time, the leader from Cotroceni will emphasize the need for clear decisions at the Summit regarding the concrete progress of Ukraine on the path to joining NATO, including in accordance with the Joint Declaration signed together with President Volodymyr Zelenskii on the Euro-Atlantic integration of Ukraine, on June 1, 2023, in margin of the Summit of the European Political Community from the Republic of Moldova.
