The US ambassador in Moscow assures that her country is not involved in the Wagner rebellion
The United States ambassador to Moscow, Lynne Tracy, directly contacted the Russian authorities over the weekend to assure them that her country is not involved in the failed rebellion of the Wagner group in Russia, the State Department announced, informs Agerpres.ro.
Ambassador Lynne Tracy, along with U.S. officials who contacted the Russian embassy in Washington, said "the United States (was) not and will not be involved" in the events that have rocked Russia, U.S. diplomatic spokesman Matthew Miller told reporters.
Tracy and U.S. officials in Washington also said they "hope Russia meets its obligations to protect our embassy and diplomatic personnel" based in Moscow, Miller continued.
Diplomatic relations between Washington and Russia have been at an all-time low since the Russian invasion of Ukraine in February 2022, with high-level talks primarily about American detainees in Russia.
