Dumitru Alaiba: "Moldovan products will reach the world's richest markets"
The Republic of Moldova will sign the Free Trade Agreement with Iceland, the Principality of Liechtenstein, the Kingdom of Norway and the Swiss Confederation (EFTA) on Tuesday, announced the Minister of Economic Development and Digitalization, Dumitru Alaiba. The official says that "Moldovan products will reach the richest markets in the world". At the same time, new perspectives and opportunities will be opened for our international trade.
Companies from the four states will be encouraged to invest in the Republic of Moldova. According to the information previously published by the press service of the Chisinau Legislative, after the signing of this document, customs duties for the export of some Moldovan agricultural products will be eliminated or reduced. Also, once the Agreement enters into force, both the EFTA states and our country will eliminate all customs duties on imports of industrial products.
According to the National Bureau of Statistics, in 2022, the value of imports and exports between the Republic of Moldova and the EFTA states was 122.84 million dollars, which represents 0.9% of the total trade of our country last year.
To date, the four states have signed 29 free trade agreements with countries outside the European Union.
We remind you that Prime Minister Dorin Recean is making a working visit to the Principality of Liechtenstein on the occasion of the signing of the aforementioned agreement with the countries of the European Free Trade Association. The Minister of Economic Development and Digitalization, Dumitru Alaiba, is also participating in the event.
