Moldovan producers will export goods to Iceland, Liechtenstein, Norway and Switzerland without paying customs fees. Maia Sandu: "An important step"

The free trade agreement between the Republic of Moldova and the European Free Trade Association (EFTA) was signed in Vaduz. The agreement will allow Moldovan producers to export goods, without paying customs tariffs, to the four EFTA member countries: Iceland, Liechtenstein, Norway and Switzerland, states the head of state Maia Sandu.

“New export markets for our entrepreneurs mean more output sold, higher incomes and more jobs at home. After more than two years of negotiations, the signing of this agreement was possible thanks to our permanent dialogue and the openness of the European partners towards our development agenda", said Maia Sandu.

This is another important step towards our economic integration in Europe and contributes to maintaining stability and increasing the well-being of citizens, the president added.

"By promoting fair trade and a transparent environment, we ensure that Moldova becomes an attractive destination for investors and that our producers benefit from more export opportunities", concluded the head of state.

The signing of such an agreement strengthens the economic ties between Moldova and Western countries, stimulates international cooperation and sends a clear message to our country's partners, claims Prime Minister Dorin Recean.

"Despite the multiple crises facing our country, we are looking for new export markets for Moldovan products and new opportunities for businessmen (...). Moldova respects the principles of fair trade and promotes a transparent and predictable environment for cross-border commercial transactions. We are determined to follow the path of economic diversification, stability and European integration".
