Victor Parlicov: „Jumătate din stocurile de gaze naturale ale Republicii Moldova vor fi păstrate în România”

Half of the natural gas stocks of the Republic of Moldova will be kept in Romania. This was announced by the Minister of Energy, Victor Parlicov, after the bilateral meeting of the working group in the field of energy. For his part, the state secretary from the Romanian Ministry of Energy, Pavel-Casian Nițulescu, stated that the authorities from Romania are available to store the gas needs of our country.

So far, several contracts have been signed with natural gas suppliers, and from next month, the first deliveries of natural gas will be made, which will be stored in Romania, said the Minister of Energy, Victor Parlicov.

"For the time being, at the level of Energocom, the decision was made that 50% of the security stocks, which represent a total of about 50 million cubic meters, i.e. about 25 million cubic meters, will be stored in Romania at the first stage, but we will see along the way what they will be. Possibly, there will also be stocks from other categories, commercial stocks, if necessary", declared Victor Parlicov.

Romania will be a long-term partner for the Republic of Moldova in the energy field, declared the state secretary of the Romanian Ministry of Energy, Pavel-Casian Nițulescu.

"The deposits in Romania have a capacity of approximately 3 billion cubic meters of gas. At the moment, we have more than 2 billion deposited. Our obligation to the European Commission is to cover 90% and we are confident that we will get closer to 100%. So, it will also be the percentage we will establish with the Republic of Moldova, Pavel-Casian Nițulescu pointed out.

We remind you that since the beginning of the war in Ukraine, the Russian Federation has reduced the supply of natural gas to our country. In order to ensure the creation and maintenance of security stocks, it was decided that the Joint Stock Company "Energocom" should conclude the necessary agreements and contracts with storage warehouse operators, including from neighboring countries, countries that are part of the Energy Community and member states of the European Union, as well as with the system operators through whose networks the natural gas subject to the security stocks is to be transported. Natural gas is stored in warehouses in Ukraine and Romania.

Last month, Energocom announced that it still has approximately 150 million cubic meters of natural gas in stock out of the total of 600 million procured in 2022 for the cold period of the year. The gas remaining in the stock constitutes about 10 percent of the resources consumed during the cold period of the year.
