A Russian general would have known that mercenary leader Wagner was planning a rebellion against Russia's military leadership
Russian General Sergei Surovikin would have known that the leader of the Wagner mercenaries, Yevgeny Prigozhin, was planning to launch an armed rebellion against Russia's military leadership, American officials claim for the New York Times, according to euronews.ro.
They assume that Prigozhin would have had domestic support and would not have launched the rebellion if he was not sure that other people in key positions would support him.
We remind you that the head of the mercenaries is in exile in Belarus, where he arrived on Tuesday, under an agreement that ended the brief revolt of Wagner fighters at the weekend. In the context, President Vladimir Putin praised his armed forces for avoiding a civil war.
