A former judge in the US has been elected President of the Evaluation Commission of the CSJ judges
Scott Bales was today elected by secret ballot as chairman of the Commission for the Evaluation of the Integrity of Judges and Candidates for the position of Judge of the Supreme Court of Justice (SCJ) of the Republic of Moldova, announces the Superior Council of Magistracy.
He is a former judge and Chief Justice of the Supreme Court of Arizona in the US and has chaired several judicial nominating commissions. As a prosecutor, Scott Bales investigated cases involving financial crimes and disciplinary misconduct.
In this context, he reaffirmed the commitment of the entire Commission to conduct the evaluation of judges and candidates to the SJC in a fair and impartial manner.
The SJC Evaluation Commission is composed of three national and three international members. The six members of the Commission were appointed by Parliament on 15 June by a vote of 3/5 of the elected Members. It was set up for the external evaluation of judges and candidates for Supreme Court judges.
