Spanish Prime Minister announces new aid package for Ukraine

Spain has announced a new aid package for Ukraine worth €55 million, reports Unian. According to the Spanish edition of El Mundo, this was announced by Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sanchez during a speech to the Ukrainian parliament. Announcing a new aid package, Sanchez promised continued support for Ukraine "whatever the cost".

Sanchez stressed that Spain, as the country holding the EU presidency, would support the Ukrainian people. "Today, 1 July, Spain assumes a great responsibility in the context of holding the Presidency of the European Union for the next six months" - said the Spanish Prime Minister.

Pedro Sánchez also addressed the issue of Ukraine's accession to NATO, saying he supports the establishment of the Ukraine-NATO Council. "We are approaching the NATO summit in Vilnius, which will extend the commitments we made last year in Madrid. Spain supports the promotion of Ukraine's political participation through the creation of the NATO-Ukraine Council, where you are already invited as a full member" - the Spanish Prime Minister noted.

He also stressed that the EU continues to support Ukraine, which is defending European values in the war with the Russian Federation. "The European Union was created to prevent new wars. We decided to unite, to be 'united in diversity', and this has made us stronger. Europe is with you, and you are one with Europe" - the Prime Minister added.
