The interim president of the SCM has resigned
The interim president of the Superior Council of Magistracy (SCM), Nina Cernat, announced her resignation at today's SCM meeting. The new SCM member, Sergiu Caraman, will take over as interim President until the new President of the Superior Council of Magistracy is appointed.
The interim president of the Superior Council of Magistracy, Nina Cernat, announced her resignation at today's SCM meeting. The new SCM member, Sergiu Caraman, will take over the interim office. His candidacy was approved, with the vote of 7 members of the Superior Council of Magistracy.
Sergiu Caraman will serve as interim President while the new President of the Superior Council of Magistracy is appointed.
On 16 June, the SCM announced a competition to replace the post of President of the Superior Council of Magistracy.
The new composition of the SCM, consisting of 7 members, 4 judges and 3 non-judges, started its work in May, after the evaluation of the pre-vetting commission.
