MFA confirms: Body of airport attacker to be repatriated to Tajikistan
Relatives of Rustam Asurov, who killed two citizens at Chisinau airport on Friday, have initiated the necessary procedures for the repatriation of the body with the help of representatives of the Tajik diaspora in Chisinau. The statement was made to Radio Moldova by the spokesman of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and European Integration (MFAEI), Igor Zaharov.
"In connection with the numerous requests from the national press regarding the repatriation of the body of a Tajik citizen, the MFAEI would like to make the following clarifications: the repatriation of the bodies of foreign citizens does not fall within the competence of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and European Integration. As a rule, the relatives of the deceased call upon a funeral company specialising in repatriation of the bodies of deceased persons, which helps them to carry out all the necessary legal procedures. According to the information available, the relatives of the deceased have already initiated the necessary procedures, with the help of representatives of the Tajik diaspora in Chisinau," said Igor Zaharov.
